Astronomie
Joseph Jérôme Lefrançais de Lalande's Astronomie, a multi-volume treatise printed in Paris in 1771 by the widow Desaint for working astronomers and surveyors, in a copy once owned by John Adams. The pages here are letterpress numerical tables — columns of hours, minutes and seconds ruled into blocks, headed with roman numerals and plus and minus signs, closing with dense footnotes — usable as grid structures, old-style figure specimens and ruled-column textures.
