Astronomy and the Bible;
Lucas Albert Reed's Astronomy and the Bible, issued in 1919 by the Seventh-day Adventist Pacific Press in Mountain View, California, argued scripture against observatory science for lay religious readers. Its plates are halftones of long-exposure telescope photographs: dense star fields, dark dust lanes, and nebulae printed as pale grey clouds on near-black grounds, useful as ready-made speckle, grain, and glow textures.
