Astronomy and general physics considered with reference to natural theology
William Whewell's Bridgewater Treatise on astronomy and natural theology, issued in London by William Pickering in 1836 for educated general readers interested in science and religion. The two plates here are not scientific but bibliographic: Pickering's Aldine device of a dolphin coiled round an anchor lettered ALDI DISCIP. ANGLVS, and an engraved armorial bookplate with a chevron-strewn shield, crest of two armoured arms, motto ribbon and script signature — usable as small ornaments, monogram frames and heraldic stock art.
