The Astrophysical journal
A research periodical in astrophysics and spectrum analysis, issued from 1895 by the University of Chicago Press for the American Astronomical Society and read by working astronomers and physicists. The plates reproduce photographed stellar and laboratory spectra as tall vertical bands crossed by dense dark and bright lines, giving designers ready-made striped gradients, barcode-like rhythms, and grey halftone texture.
