Vittorio Pica's Italian survey of European printmakers and book illustrators, issued in Bergamo by the Istituto Italiano d'Arti Grafiche in 1904 for print collectors and connoisseurs. Its 431 plates reproduce etchings, drypoints, woodcuts and pen sketches, mostly single figures and heads built from dense parallel hatching and blunt black strokes, useful for coarse-grain line texture, cropped portrait vignettes and loose figure studies.
