Audiences : a few suggestions to those who look and listen
A short 1896 essay on aesthetics and how to look and listen, written by Florence P. Holden and published in Chicago by A.C. McClurg for general readers and lecture-going audiences. The plates are small pen sketches of building fragments — Gothic arcades and trefoil tracery, a deep porch arch, a Doric cornice and capital — built from dotted lines, quick hatching and flat black shadow, usable as spot drawings, margin marks, or line-texture samples.
