Aula lucis, or, The house of light : a discourse written in the year 1651
An alchemical treatise by Thomas Vaughan, printed in London by William Leake in 1652 for readers of hermetic philosophy. The plates are woodcut initial letters—I, W, P, T—set in square blocks of scrolling foliage, buds and hatched leaves, useful as drop caps, ornament blocks, or sources of hand-cut line texture.
