The Australian flora in applied art
A design manual by Richard Thomas Baker, economic botanist at Sydney's Technological Museum, published by the New South Wales government printer in 1915 to press native plants on Australian craftsmen and manufacturers. Waratah, flannel flower and gum blossom are turned into capitals, pressed-metal panels, tile borders and repeat wallpapers, with pencil botanical studies beside finished colour schemes in red, cream and grey.
