A practical handbook on publishing methods, contracts, copyright and manuscript preparation, written by the brothers George Haven and John Bishop Putnam and issued by G.P. Putnam's Sons in New York and London in 1900 for first-time authors. The plates are printers' ornaments: symmetrical foliate tailpieces, scrolled acanthus spandrels and banded strapwork rules, usable as dividers, corner fillers and section marks.
