The Automatic toy works
A trade catalogue of clockwork figure toys issued by the Automatic Toy Works of New York in 1882 and printed by the stationers Lockwood & Crawford for wholesale buyers and shopkeepers. Wood engravings show single wind-up figures — washerwomen, ironers, a writing lady, several in ethnic caricature — mounted on ornamented plinths, drawn with fine hatching and usable as isolated figures or as panel ornament.
