Avgvstarvm imagines aereis formis expressae : vitae quoque carundem breuiter enarratae, signorum etiam, quae in posteriori parte numismatũ efficta sũt, ratio explicata
An antiquarian numismatic catalogue by the Parma engraver Enea Vico, printed in Venice in 1558 by Paolo Manuzio, pairing portraits of Roman empresses from ancient coins with short lives and explanations of the reverse types, aimed at collectors and humanist scholars. Each plate sets a profile coin portrait in a copperplate architectural frame — pedestals, volutes, swags of fruit, caryatids, satyr masks, rams' heads — with a blank or lettered tablet below, usable as medallion surrounds, cartouches, plinths and ornament borders.
