Reginald Scot's 1584 skeptical treatise against witch trials, reprinted in London by Elliot Stock in 1886 for antiquarians and collectors of occult literature. The woodcuts reproduce conjuring diagrams: nested magic circles lettered with divine names, triangles and pentacles, a dagger-ringed summoning ground, and shield cartouches holding spell words — ready-made ritual geometry and blackletter lettering.
