The golden bough : a study in comparative religion
James George Frazer's comparative study of myth, magic and religion, published by Macmillan in London in 1890 for a scholarly British readership, in a copy from the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh. The two images here are binding and ownership marks rather than text illustration: a gilt-stamped mistletoe panel on green cloth, and an engraved armorial bookplate with cartouche, motto ribbon and hanging swags, useful as repeating leaf pattern, crest frame or endpaper ornament.
