The monster telescopes, erected by the Earl of Rosse, Parsonstown, with an account of the manufacture of the specula, and full descriptions of all the machinery. Connected with these instruments
A technical account of the Earl of Rosse's giant reflecting telescopes at Parsonstown (Birr), Ireland, printed locally by Shields in 1844 for astronomers, engineers and instrument makers curious about how the specula and mounting machinery were made. The plates are wood-engraved diagrams: lettered ground plans and elevations, hatched perspective views of wooden moulds and hoppers, and the tube slung in a lattice of timber scaffolding among trees.
