The magic of jewels and charms
A 1915 folklore and mineralogy survey of amulets, talismans and curative stones by George Frederick Kunz, gem expert to Tiffany & Co., published by Lippincott in Philadelphia and London for collectors and general readers. Plates mix fine line engravings of fossil sea urchins, eagle-stones and pebbles arranged as floating specimens on blank grounds with coarse halftones of carved stone amulets, giving designers isolated small objects, hatched dome and radial-ribbed shell textures, and silhouetted animal forms.
