A 1784 French pamphlet by the physician Noël Retz attacking Mesmer and animal magnetism as conjuring, issued under a London imprint for the Paris medical and pamphlet-reading public. Its single engraved plate stacks captioned roundels — a bowing Mesmer, courtly figures, a crowded salon around the magnetic tub — above a strip of funerary urns and tablets, giving designers ready-made medallion layouts, speech-caption framing and small crowd-scene interiors.
