A scholarly history of ancient astronomy by Jean Sylvain Bailly, published in Paris by the Frères Debure in 1775 for learned readers tracing star lore from its origins to the school of Alexandria. The plates are sparse outline engravings copying zodiac ceilings and tablets: gridded panels of rams, bulls, crabs, fish and scorpions, and a fragmentary Egyptian zodiac laid out in radiating bands, useful as simple astrological symbol sets and diagram frames.
