Arte magica annichilata. Libri tre.
Scipione Maffei's Arte magica annichilata, three books arguing against belief in magic, printed in Verona by Agostino Andreoni in 1754 for an educated Italian readership. The plates are small letterpress woodcut headpieces and tailpieces in black line: symmetrical rococo cartouches of C-scrolls, acanthus, torches, lyres, drums and books, with hatched grounds and pendant drops.
