De palingenesia, sive resuscitatione artificiali plantarum, hominum et animalium e suis cineribus liber singularis
A Latin treatise by Georg Franck von Franckenau on palingenesis, the supposed revival of plants, people and animals from their ashes, printed at Halle by Felix du Serre in 1717 for physicians and natural philosophers. The plates are letterpress printer's ornaments: rising suns over hills flanked by sunflower scrollwork, repeating floral borders, and a blocky woodcut flower basket usable as headpieces, rules and spot marks.
