Matho, or, the cosmotheoria puerilis, a dialogue. In which the first principles of philosophy and astronomy are accommodated to the capacity of young persons, or such as have yet no tincture of these sciences ...
Andrew Baxter's Matho, printed for A. Millar in London in 1740, is a dialogue introducing the first principles of philosophy and astronomy to young readers with no prior schooling in the sciences. The two images here are not diagrams but the book's front matter: a blank laid-paper endleaf with foxing, and an engraved armorial bookplate for Cork and Orrery with two lion supporters, a coronet, and scrolled mantling, surrounded by inked shelfmarks and an owner's date.
