The works of Thomas Vaughan : Eugenius Philalethes
Collected writings of the Welsh alchemist Thomas Vaughan, who wrote as Eugenius Philalethes in the 1650s, reissued in 1919 by the Theosophical Publishing House in London for readers of occult and Hermetic literature. The single plate is a black-line woodcut-style diagram: a seven-pointed star inside a circle, points numbered 1 to 7, the word Hyle at the center and a ring of Latin words for metals, elements and vapours running around the rim, useful as a ready-made emblem, seal or roundel.
