Lettres cabalistiques, ou correspondance philosophique, historique et critique, entre deux cabalistes, divers esprits elementaires, & le Seigneur Astaroth
A satirical epistolary work on cabala, spirits and philosophy by the marquis d'Argens, printed in The Hague by Pierre Paupie in 1741 for a French-reading audience of freethinkers and occult-curious readers. Copper-engraved headpiece vignettes signed J. van der Schley show men in frock coats with alembics and demon masks inside rococo cartouches, alongside typographic flower borders and large display capitals.
