The bargain book
A 1911 London handbook on collecting and bargain-hunting for pictures, furniture and curios, written by Charles Edward Wynne Jerningham and Lewis Bettany for Chatto & Windus and aimed at amateur collectors and saleroom visitors. The eleven plates are grey halftone photographs of a still-life painting, a patterned woven hanging, and a crowded dealer's showroom, useful for muted photographic texture, framed-picture arrangements and textile repeats.
