The baronial and ecclesiastical antiquities of Scotland
An antiquarian survey of Scottish castles, tower houses, abbeys and parish churches, drawn and engraved by Robert William Billings with descriptive text by John Hill Burton, issued in Edinburgh by Oliver and Boyd for architects, antiquaries and topographers. The 65 plates are fine-line steel engravings on tinted mounts: crowstepped gables, turrets and corbelled stair towers, traceried windows and ruined arcades, set against pale skies with small figures for scale, useful for architectural detail, silhouettes and engraved texture.
