The baronial and ecclesiastical antiquities of Scotland
Robert William Billings surveyed Scotland's castles, abbeys and churches in this four-volume antiquarian work, drawn and engraved by him and published at his own expense in London in 1852 for architects and antiquaries. The steel engravings give exterior elevations and three-quarter views in fine grey line, with tracery, arcades, crow-stepped gables and ruined walls set against blank skies and sparse foliage.
