The baronial and ecclesiastical antiquities of Scotland
A four-volume antiquarian survey of Scottish castles, abbeys and churches drawn and published by the architect Robert William Billings in London between 1845 and 1852, aimed at architects, antiquaries and the Gothic revival trade. The steel engravings give single buildings in raking light against blank or lightly clouded skies, with sharp masonry courses, tracery, corbelled turrets and ruined arcades, useful as line-and-tone architectural stock, texture studies and silhouettes.
