The baronial and ecclesiastical antiquities of Scotland
A four-volume architectural survey of Scottish castles, abbeys and parish churches drawn and published by Robert William Billings in Edinburgh from 1845, issued to subscribers among antiquaries, architects and the builders of the Gothic revival. The steel engravings give exterior elevations and interior views in fine line and dense tonal shading, with ruined Romanesque arcading, tracery windows, vaulted ceilings and carved capitals recorded at measurable scale against stormy skies.
