An architectural survey of Scottish castles, abbeys and parish churches, drawn and etched by Robert William Billings and issued in Edinburgh and London from 1845 for antiquaries, architects and subscribers. The plates are tinted steel engravings of masonry seen in raking light: ruined gables, tracery windows, crowstepped towers, fallen gravestones and framing trees, useful for stonework texture and silhouetted skylines.
