Barye
A 1904 Boston monograph from Bates and Guild on the French animalier sculptor Antoine-Louis Barye, issued for American art students, collectors and designers. Its plates are halftone photographs of bronze animal groups shot against plain grounds, giving lions, panthers and horses in taut muscular silhouette with heavy tonal modelling, useful for animal poses, cast-metal texture and dark-on-light figure studies.
