Basilicae veteris vaticanae descriptio
A 1646 antiquarian account of the old St Peter's basilica, written by the Roman canon Paolo de Angelis and printed in Rome by Bernardino Tani for clergy, antiquaries, and architects recording the building before its replacement. Copperplate engravings give Corinthian capitals with deep acanthus, scrolled cornices with rosettes, and a fluted niche framing a standing apostle statue under a relief panel, all in fine parallel hatching that supplies ready ornament motifs and architectural line detail.
