The Beauties of England and Wales, or, Delineations, topographical, historical, and descriptive, of each county
A multi-volume county-by-county topographical survey of England and Wales begun in 1801 by John Britton and Edward Wedlake Brayley, printed in London for Vernor and Hood and sold to antiquarians, landowners and travellers. The plates are small copperplate landscape views of parish churches, country houses, priory ruins and bridges, each set among framing trees with figures and cattle for scale, giving designers fine-line architectural silhouettes, stippled skies and foliage vignettes.
