The beauties of England and Wales, or, Delineations, topographical, historical, and descriptive, of each county
A multi-volume English topographical survey begun in 1801 by John Britton and Edward Wedlake Brayley, with James Norris Brewer and Frederic Shoberl, printed in London for Vernor and Hood and sold to antiquarians, travellers and county subscribers. The plates are small steel and copper engravings of castle ruins, churches, bridges, country houses and river valleys, with fine tonal skies and dense foliage hatching, useful for landscape silhouettes, architectural profiles and grey engraved textures.
