Beaux-arts
Beaux-arts, Claude-Henri Watelet's art dictionary volume of the Encyclopédie méthodique, printed in Paris by Panckoucke and in Liège by Plomteux in 1788 for artists, collectors and scholars. The plates here are letterpress woodcut ornaments: cross-hatched sprays of roses, poppies and vines arranged as headpieces and tailpieces, plus a trophy of plumed helmet, flags, arrows and oak, usable as rules, dividers and spot devices.
