Volume of the Encyclopédie méthodique devoted to the fine arts, compiled by Claude-Henri Watelet with plates engraved by Robert Bénard, issued in Paris and Liège in 1788 for artists, craftsmen and subscribers to the reference set. The 149 copperplates lay out easels, presses, modelling stands, tongs and workshop interiors as numbered figures with scale bars, useful as line-drawn tool silhouettes and diagram layouts.
