A beginner's star-book; an easy guide to the stars and to the astronomical uses of the opera-glass, the field-glass and the telescope
An introductory amateur astronomy guide by Edgar Gardner Murphy, published by G.P. Putnam's Sons in New York and London in 1912 for beginners observing with opera-glasses, field-glasses and small telescopes. The plates are white-on-black star charts: dense fields of graded dots, open circles for faint stars, thin arcs marking hour circles and horizon lines, and sparse letter and numeral labels.
