Beiträge zur niederländischen Kunstgeschichte
Herman Riegel's two-volume study of Netherlandish painting, published in Berlin by Weidmann in 1882 for art historians and connoisseurs cataloguing the Herzog Anton Ulrich collection at Braunschweig. The plates are facsimile cut-outs of painters' signatures and monograms, printed as thick black pen strokes over the German type beneath, giving designers ready-made calligraphic initials, looping flourishes and ligatures at large scale.
