The Belgian galleries : being a history of the Flemish school of painting, illuminated and demonstrated by critical descriptions of the great paintings in Bruges, Antwerp, Ghent, Brussels and other Belgian cities
A 1912 gallery handbook by Esther Singleton, published in Boston by the St. Botolph Society, surveying Flemish painting in the museums of Bruges, Antwerp, Ghent and Brussels for American travellers and art students. The plates are sepia halftone reproductions of paintings, each captioned with artist, title and holding museum: crowded tavern interiors, outdoor dances under trees, fortune-telling scenes and religious groups around a body, useful for figure-group compositions, period costume and tonal halftone texture.
