Bert Wilson at the wheel
A boys' adventure novel by J. W. Duffield, published by Sully and Kleinteich in New York in 1913, part of a series following Bert Wilson through automobile racing episodes for young readers. The plates are wash drawings reproduced in halftone, built on smoky grey masses and white dust clouds: early open racing cars cornering past a crowded grandstand, a touring car outrunning a locomotive on the tracks, a horse-drawn wagon blocking a road, and a brawl broken up by a barking dog.
