Beschouwing der wereld : bestaande in hondert konstige figuuren, met godlyke spreuken en stichtelyke verzen
An emblem book of a hundred plates with biblical mottoes and devotional verse, etched and published by Jan Luyken in Amsterdam in 1708 for Dutch Mennonite and Protestant household readers. The small upright plates set one or two figures in 17th-century dress against trees, fields and distant villages, with skies built from long parallel hatching lines; useful for figure groups in landscape, stylised cloud and foliage textures, and scenes of everyday labour.
