A 1763 Berlin catalogue by Matthias Oesterreich describing Johann Gottlieb Stein's private picture cabinet, printed by Friedrich Wilhelm Birnstiel with engraved ornament by Crusius and Bernigeroth for collectors and dealers. The plates are rococo headpieces and tailpieces: asymmetric C-scroll cartouches framing putti, open books, ships, allegorical figures with scales, and cloud-borne portrait medallions, usable as frames, dividers and vignettes.
