Bibliotheca Spenceriana; or, A descriptive catalogue of the ... library of George John, earl Spencer
A descriptive catalogue of Earl Spencer's library at Althorp, compiled by bibliographer Thomas Frognall Dibdin and printed in London in 1814 for collectors and antiquarian book buyers. The plates are stipple and line engravings after family portraits by Van Dyck, Reynolds and others, showing sitters in feathered headdresses, satin gowns and boy's armour against trees and balustrades, useful for costume detail, drapery modelling and dense tonal backgrounds.
