A set of copperplate emblems engraved by Johann Pfann at Nuremberg in 1626, reproducing the biblical scenes painted on the walls of two refurbished wards of the Holy Ghost Hospital so that patients who could not read scripture had something to look at. Each plate sets an oval scene—sickbeds, a burial, kitchen and workshop interiors—inside a strapwork cartouche flanked by half-length allegorical figures and topped by a skull or head, with virtue names like Patientia and Spes lettered into the sky; useful for cartouche frames, mourning motifs, and cross-hatched interior perspectives.
