A picture album of nineteenth-century German wood engraving, compiled with text by Hermann Lücke for the Saxon Albertverein and published by E.A. Seemann in Leipzig in 1877, for collectors and students of the revived woodcut. The 159 plates reproduce work by Ludwig Richter, Schnorr and contemporaries: village and family scenes, biblical tableaux, banderole captions and foliate borders, with engravers' signatures intact.
