An 1893 R. E. King reprint of William Harrison Ainsworth's historical novel Guy Fawkes; or the Gunpowder Treason, issued in London for a popular Victorian readership. The plates are dark line-and-stipple drawings of 17th-century conspirators in cloaks and steeple hats, torchlit vaults, deathbeds and conjuring scenes, with figures set in heavy shadow inside arched vignette frames — useful for silhouette figures, crosshatched night interiors and irregular vignette borders.
