A three-volume historical novel of the Peasants' Revolt by William Harrison Ainsworth, issued by Tinsley Brothers in London in 1874 for the circulating-library readership. The pictures are small wood-engraved chapter ornaments in dense black line: a Tudor rose ringed by shamrock, thistle and holly, paired butterflies over foliage, a nest of eggs among twigs — compact motifs for headpieces, tailpieces and spot decoration.
