The miser's daughter, etc

Ainsworth, William Harrison · 1848 · Parry & Co. · 21 pictures

A historical novel by William Harrison Ainsworth, set in Georgian London and published in London by Parry & Co. in 1848 for Victorian readers of serial fiction, with 21 plates etched by George Cruikshank. The plates show crowded street scenes under overhanging timbered houses, promenades of wigged gentlemen and hooped skirts beneath avenues of trees, and panelled parlour interiors — useful for eighteenth-century costume, shop and house fronts, and dense figure crowds in fine etched line.
