Johnny Gibb of Gushetneuk, in the parish of Pyketillim; with glimpses of the parish politics about A.D. 1843. [By W. Alexander. Reprinted from the 'Aberdeen Free Press.'
A Scots dialect novel of Aberdeenshire farming and parish quarrels, written by William Alexander for the Aberdeen Free Press and issued in 1880 by David Douglas of Edinburgh with etched character portraits after George Reid, printed by Armand Durand. The plates are head-and-shoulders studies of weathered country men in soft hats, neckcloths and work aprons, drawn in fine open etched line with dense cross-hatched backgrounds that leave faces and collars nearly blank.
