Dizionario corografico dell' Italia ... Opera illustrata, etc
A multi-volume Italian geographical dictionary compiled under Amato Amati and published in Milan from 1868, cataloguing towns, provinces and regions for general readers and students. The plates are small numbered woodcuts of civic coats of arms, coloured in flat red, blue, grey and ochre, showing towers, crosses, lions and castles on shaped shields, usable as compact heraldic spot illustrations or as a palette of simple emblem shapes.
