Dizionario corografico dell' Italia ... Opera illustrata, etc
A multi-volume geographical dictionary of Italy edited by Amato Amati and published in Milan from 1868, compiling entries on provinces, towns and villages for Italian readers and administrators. The plates are hand-coloured civic coats of arms, numbered as figures and printed within the text columns: towered castles, crowned busts, mounted knights and fleurs-de-lis in flat red, blue and silver-grey, useful as heraldic spot devices or stencil-like emblem shapes.
