Social England under the Regency ... With ... illustrations
John Ashton's popular antiquarian account of English daily life, politics and manners from 1811 to 1820, published in London by Ward & Downey in 1890 for general readers of social history. The plates are line redrawings of Regency satirical prints by Cruikshank, Rowlandson and others, printed sideways with their original titles, publishers and dates beneath: crowded groups of caricatured figures in tailcoats, bonnets and uniforms, tumbling, brawling and orating, usable as period costume reference and as loose outline crowd scenes.
